Our company is the product of two unique and successful companies, Thermofil, Inc. and Asahi KASEI Chemicals. Thermofil started as a manufacturer of high performance, reinforced thermoplastics for the automotive industry. Founded in 1967, the company specialized in two of the main product lines; Thermylene (glass reinforced polypropylenes) and Thermylon (nylon 6 and 6/6).
Asahi Kasei Chemicals (AKCC) is the core operating company for all chemical-related operations of the Asahi Kasei Group. Beginning with Japan’s first commercial ammonia synthesis in 1923, process and product innovation have driven the expansion and growth of operations. Within AKCC’s broad portfolio of products, the following; Xyron (modified polyphenylene ether), Leona (nylon 6/6, 6/6/+6i) and Tenac (homopolymer and copolymer acetals) are compounded and sold by Asahi Kasei Plastics.
